XnView MP

If you want to sort and find your media files more efficiently, XnView MP may be the tool you are looking for. It is essentially a file browser, but with an advanced filtering system and other useful features. The software gives you the possibility of keeping a well maintained media library, while working with a set of intuitive controls, in a familiar environment.

XnView MP is free for personal and educational use and it is available for all popular Windows versions, as well as other operating systems. The setup file is quite small and installing its components doesn't take more than one minute. There are no special requirements you have to meet and you don't need powerful hardware to run the software.

You can navigate through your photos, videos and music on XnView MP's user interface just like on a standard Explorer window. The software only displays these specific file types, so you won't mix them with others. They are displayed just like in Windows Explorer, with the same icons and thumbnails. Additionally, you can find a selected file's properties and metadata on the same window, without the need to provide any more input.

Files can be categorized by selecting them and ticking one or more of the available categories, in the lower region of the interface. Furthermore, you can rate files and color code them by clicking a series of small icons on the files themselves. If you wish to find specific files, after sorting them, you can replace the navigation pane, on the left side of the window, with a categories filter. Here you can view all files with certain ratings, colors or categories.
